About the Artist

Brandy Llewellyn

When I purchased my first Nantucket purse, I was fascinated by its intricacy, sturdiness, and beauty. I studied the basic process on Nantucket Island.
I continued my studies with other master basket makers and later was introduced to tapestry weaving. I have applied this to both open and lidded baskets as well as purses. I have used this technique to create both informal designs as well as structured "Southwest" designs, reminiscent of
Native American art. I am always looking for different ways to express myself though weaving.

My husband & I spend the winters on Sanibel Island, Florida and the summers in Evergreen, Colorado. We both enjoy photography, kayaking, beach combing, and fossiling.

My work is exhibited in the Matsumoto Gallery in Sanibel. It is also available for viewing, by appointment, at my studio in Evergreen.
